Tonight Melissa and I were able to go to the Pre-Grand Opening of Scheels. I was given a VIP invitation through my work, so we ditched the kiddo’s over at the in-laws and headed out for a night alone along with 50 Billion other people that also attended. The store is ginormous and to say there is tons of stuff packed to the gills is an understatement. As soon as we walked through the door we were collecting all sorts of free stuff. I’m sure the kids will lay equal claim to the loot as soon as they wake up in the morning.
As we were shuffling through the store, we chatted with co-workers we’d bump into, sampled the fruit and cheese spreads, and I started mentally planning my Christmas shopping trip – one stop for the whole family. We’ll probably hold off for a few weeks until the crowds die down until we attempt to go back, but the kids will love riding the huge Ferris wheel, spending some time at the shooting range, and looking at all the dead stuffed animals on the fake mountain. It will be a fun place to take the kids on those days that the weather is crappy and they are begging for something to do. All in all it’s a pretty cool place and I’m sure I’ll be spending a lot of time (and money) there in the months and years to come.
